This is Thursday and has been a rather nice day. Leona, Russell and I went to the matinee this afternoon. Anna Q. Nilsson & James Kirkwood in "The Top of The World" not very good. Tracy didn't work to day. Fred did. We, none of us sat up last night but Leona. She walked up town dressed in boy's clothes. Russell has a cold; is hoarse + his nose is running. Fred didn't sleep good last night so is tired to night. It is now 9 o'clock and we're getting in bed. the clock is 1/2 hour fast.
Jan. 8
This is Thursday and a pretty day. I'm fasting again, have not eaten anything since last night it is now past noon. Cartie + Leona have not come home to lunch yet. Russell and I just came from the grocery. He rode his new tricycle. He likes it. His Aunt Rena sent him 2 nice night-gowns + his Aunt Annie sent him a little gingham suit one of Bobbie's I think. Rena sent 2 boxes; the first had candy + nuts, 2 shirts for Fred(flannel) a turkish towel and a pair of pillow cases to me, later she sent 2 gowns to Russell. Annie sent Leona a little book, Russell a little suit, Fred 2 pr. sox and to ma a cute little apron. Last night Tracy measured and was just a trifle under 6ft., Cartie just 5ft., and I 5ft-4 3/4 in. We all measured in stocking feet. We looked at a place a few days ago that Fred was awfully anxious to get but didn't have money enough to buy a team of horses that he would have to pay $250 for. Little Jean had an operation in her ear day before yesterday. Russell + I went to the matinee yesterday; saw "Peter Pan".
Jan 14
This is Wednesday morn about 9 o'clock. It is cloudy. Leona + Cart have gone to school. Day before yesterday we all went into Los to see about getting Cart on dancing but we were to late, he said he thought Cart was to young. He was a Russian, asked, "is this young lady interested" about Leona. Cart + Leona went over to Ima's then. Yesterday a real estate man took Russell + me out to see a place for rent, too "tackie". Went to meeting last Sunday, mother wasn't there. Hubert was over Sunday night. Chet + Ed expect to get into their new home about the 22nd. Russell has been playing around, just now asked for bread + milk.
Jan 22
This is Thursday evening at 9:20. Fred has gone to bed. Leona is hanging out a few articles of clothing that she washed out. She didn't go to school to day. Ted came home the 14th. I was at the store when he came and I was awfully
glad to see him. He is over to L.B. now has been since day before yesterday. Cart went to L.B. day before yesterday too. We've been looking for a house to move but haven't found one yet. Russell plays with his tricycle so much. Well I'll desist and go to bed.
Feb 4
This is Wednesday at 8 o'clock. Tracy and Leona + Russell are in bed. Russell is in bed with Tracy he has slept with him several nights. I went out to Centralia to day to see a house but I didn't like it at all among the Mexicans and colored people. Leona stayed out of school to take care of Russell. She has changed her name at school to Ivana. Ted came home Sunday night and went back to Lynwood Monday. Cart also left 2 wks ago yesterday. Marie came home from Berkley Saturday. I sent Paul $3.00 for Tracy day before yesterday. Tracy still owes him $3.00. Tracy has paid for his suit. Fred wants to get moved awfully bad, said the other night that he anticipated this summer would be an awfully hard one. Bro. Rutherford speaks in the Trinity A. Sunday, the 8th. We get about 2 eggs a day now. We have 9 hens + 2 roosters.
Feb 15
This has been a rather pretty day; sunny part of the time. I was disappointed in not getting a house I saw yesterday. It had 5 rooms. Rented for $25.00 per month if I had gone 2 hrs earlier I guess I would have gotten it. Tracy + Ted are not home yet and mother is worrying for fear they'll catch cold; they went off with out their coats. I guess they went to Lynwood. We expected Hubert but he didn't come to day. Mother has been with me a week Thursday. She is going to help me move if I can get a place. Russell went over to Charline's to her birthday party to day, she is 8 yrs old. Fred wrote a letter to a Mr. Peer to Night. Leona has a cold. I have a slight one.
Feb 24
This is Tuesday. It is cloudy now the past days have been cloudy + rainy. We've all been having a siege of the flu. Fred was off 3 days: yesterday was a holiday. Tracy didn't work yesterday. Mother was quite sick yesterday and so was Leona. They are better to day. Ted coughs terribly and says his throat is sore to day. Fred didn't feel like going to work to day. He is awfully tired of this wage business, he says. Hubert is "working out" at Vernon now. I have been looking for a house for several weeks now but haven't found anything that suits yet. I'm washing to day. Russell is out in the yard playing. Fred advertised his place not long ago.
Feb 28
This is Saturday and has been a beautiful day. Ted + Tracy have gone to the show. Russell is asleep. Mother is feeling better to night. She coughed terribly last night. She has had the "flu" for about a week. We've all had it. Tracy, Russell + I had it lighter than Mother, Leona, Ted + Fred. Fred's ear has little blisters broken out on it. I went to Ed's day before yesterday. Saw Homer for the first time in a long time: said he was going to get a room with another fellow in Tent City. I guess Mother will go home to morrow.
My measurements to day (Mar.10) are as follows, measured not tight
waist 31 inches
bust 37 1/2 "
wrist 6"
ankle 8 1/2"
calf 15"
neck 13 1/4"
thigh 23 3/4"

This is a sunny day but a cold wind is blowing. I went to the meeting yesterday, neither Mother nor Marie were there. Fred didn't work yesterday Ted + Tracy went to Lynwood yesterday. Tracy went to see about and Ad by the "Record" about getting in the movies. If he gets 10 subscriptions he can get a test picture made. I don't think much of it. Mother went home a week ago to morrow. She sent a note by Tracy saying she feels better but still coughs some. I cough some. I weigh 162 lbs. in my coat. I think it weighs 3 1/2 lbs. Marie looks quite a little stouter to me but says she doesn't weigh much more. Leona + Russell went to the matinee Saturday and Ted &+Russell & I went Friday. The picture was Viola Dana in "The Beauty Prize". Just fair picture + vaudeville. Mailed a letter to Rena 2 days ago. Ima + Charlie with their friend Lee were up a week ago yesterday. Chas has gotten a letter from his boy Lynn whom he had not heard from for years. Hubert is working for Swenson's has been for a little over a week now. Chet + the girls were up last Tuesday. Ted went up to town this a.m. to see about getting work. I wish he could get something.
Mar 19
This is Thursday and has started sunny + bright so I guess it will be a pretty day. I see by this mornings papers where they've had a terrible cyclone with quite a loss of life in the southern part of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana etc. Leona has gone to school and Russell is out playing with his tricycle. Ted has gone to town to look for work how I do wish he could find something to do. He and Tracy went out with 2 girls last night; Jeana and Ruby. Ted said, when he came from Lynwood 2 or 3 days ago that Grace had the "flu". Hubert has been having it too. It seems to be in the bronchial tubes and lungs this year. Fred is still in the paper mills but don't know just how long it will last. I went to meeting last Sunday. Mother + Marie were there. Leona + Russell went too. I've started taking the Examiner now 1st one came yesterday morning all tho I just signed for it the 12th. I'm dealing altogether for cash now have been for 2 or 3 weeks. Tracy pays $7.00 per week has been for about 2 months. Fred is terribly dissatisfied wants to get on a ranch.
Mar 31
This is Tuesday and it has rained good to day. At noon Ted went up town + got some Tamales and left Leona's Jackette + 20 cents for lunch at Mr. Staten's but she took a short-cut-home so missed connections. She got wet. Ted is reading "Square Deal Sanderson". It rained so Sunday I didn't get to go to the meeting. Fred was home all day. A week from this Sunday will be Easter. Russell is out playing with the girls. I've got to get ready now to go to town. I heard the Bible Students talk over K.H.J. at Koons the other night. (Sunday) I put an Ad in last Sunday's "Examiner".
Apr 8
This is Wednesday and Memorial Day. I'm going to the Trinity Auditorium to night at 7:30 where we celebrate our Lord's Memorial I guess. Mother + Marie will be there. Leona is working at the 15 cent store this week; started yesterday. She says she got pretty tired yesterday. Fred, Leona, Russell and I went to see the "Thundering Herd" last night; just fair. Some Indians appeared in person. Ted hasn't work yet. Bede fights his first time to night. Of course I hope he wins. He's such a fine boy I do wish he were interested in something else. Russell fell and cut his little lip yesterday. He is so sweet.
Apr 14
This is Tuesday and has been a pretty day. Leona went back to school today: didn't go yesterday. Fred went to Lynwood Sunday, the first time he had seen Chet's place. Tracy got him a new pair of light grey pants and a sweater and shirt Saturday. We have a white hen that just hatched yesterday and day before; 9 chicks. Fred brot home 25 buff chicks to night that were hatched Saturday. Hubert is working in the oil fields at Athens for a few days. He is disgusted with the fight game he didn't get the money he expected; the colored wouldn't fight and they stopped the fight.
Apr 21
This is Tuesday morning. Russell is out playing with Nita + Marion. Leona is getting ready for school. Ted is gone to look for work and Tracy + Fred have gone to work.
Went to the meeting Sunday: Mother + Marie were there. Bro. EsLelmen(?) speaks in Hawthorn to night and I'd like to go. There is to be a 3 day convention in San Diego - May 29 to 31. I'd like to go but I'm not planning on it at all. Leona, Russell + I went to town Saturday and got her a pair of two tone(tan & black) shoes(classy + cute) a pair of hose + a little brown crepe dress.
Apr 28
This is Tuesday and has been a cloudy day rather cool. Leona didn't go to school to day or yesterday had a little cold. Ted is over to Lynwood; I guess he will stay all night. He starts to work in the morning I hope he likes it and stays with it for awhile. Bede is working as a boiler maker helper. He has been there about a week. Tracy has gone out with Ruby to night. Ted + Tracy went out to the beach with Koon's truck. They all went to a "wienie" roast last Friday night. Russell's eye is inflamed. He got something in it last Saturday and I thot it was out but I guess it isn't. He is so sweet. I took him to meeting last Sunday. Bro. Pollack will be there Sunday and I want to be sure to go. We have almost 150 little chicks. Fred got the last 100 the night of the 21st. We have lost 12 chicks so far.
May 18
This is Monday and a beautiful day. I went to meeting yesterday and heard a good talk by Bro. Talifernio. He expressed his thot that things would not culminate as quickly as some expected and might be a number of years yet. What ever is the Lord's will in the matter should be our will. Mother and Marie are going to the convention in San Diego the last 3 days of this month. Fred is intending to go to the Imperial Valley next Sunday. Norris Hart was here 2 weeks ago yesterday. Gladys came with him. He is much stouter looking. Gladys looks older than she is but has the same look and actions she always had. Norris seems just the same. Fay looks terribly like him. Tracy took his boss's family yesterday for a lovely drive, had a good time. Hubert is having him a new suit made. He has started working carpentering again now, was working as a boiler maker helper or something like that. Ted is not working. Leona went to the highjinks Fri. Russell's eye is much better.
May 28
This is Thursday and has been a fairly nice day. Ted + Tracy have gone to Fairview Heights where Tracy thinks he is to fight. He fought 2 or 3 weeks ago + they gave the other fellow (Temple) the decision because Tracy wouldn't fight the last round. I was over to Lynwood yesterday with Russell. Edna was making mother a dress and Marie came with a new hat etc. so they started this A.M. I suppose for San Diego to the convention. Fred quit the paper mill last Saturday and hasn't found anything else yet. Ted isn't working yet. Hazel is over here now and she and Leona are talking about going on a hike. I want to write some soon if I can.
Bro. Herr speaks here next Sunday.
June 9
This is Tuesday and has been a pretty day. I washed to day. Ted is working, washing dishes at the Inglewood Cafe: says he likes it fine. He started there a week ago tomorrow. Tracy has just come in from working out, he is to fight next Tuesday or Monday. He has fought twice + the other fellow got the decision. Hubert was over last Sunday and Sunday before. Last Sunday he, Leona and Tracy went out with Koon's in their truck. Ruby went too. They all reported a good time. Leona was a little sunburned also Hazel. Ruby came over in the evening + Bede got some ice cream. We had quite a rain on the 3rd of this month. The Shriners were here at that time and couldn't hold their parade. We're terribly short of money now in fact all we have is what Tracy draws. Fred paid out $15.00 on a lot over at Grand a week or Two ago and I suppose will have to give it up. The chickens are quite a care. One old red hen has something wrong with her eye and breathing apparatus. We've already paid out $7.15 for feed since he bought the yellow leghorns Apr. 14th. We've had no hot weather so far this year; in fact it has been too cool. Mother + Marie report a fine time at the San Diego Convention.
June 22
This is Monday eve just 9:30. Von and I went up town to day, she applied for work but we were too late. Ted is out with Hazel + Tracy went to the fight; I guess Bede went too. Tracy went out with Joan last night and her mother was ranting around hunting for her. She was pretty "irey" I guess. I guess she thot that Tracy had kidnaped the girl. The girl phoned up to night. There is a man boarding here started last Tuesday evening. Leona's school was out Friday. She likes the Inglewood school. Ted got a new pair of pants last Thursday + the Saturday before he and Tracy each got a pair of shoes, paid $6.50 a pair for them. Tracy got his in Los. Russell went to Howard's birth day party to day, took him a box of colored pencils and a lead pencil.
July 7
This is Tuesday rather warm but still a nice breeze blowing. Russell and I are alone to day. Von is over to Lynwood: she spent the 4th there, went over last Thursday. She hasn't succeeded in getting work yet. Hazel went to work in the fruit day before yesterday about 24 miles from here and was peeved because Von didn't come to go too. Ted is working at the I. Cafe yet. Hubert and Tracy are in Ripon where Tracy's card says they are working for a construction co. They left a week ago day before yesterday and I surely do miss them. Tracy quit or rather got canned for hitting "Hiemie" just about 4 days before he left. I went to the meeting Sunday. Mother and Marie were There. Chet, mother and the girls + Cart were up last week brot an orange dress that Marie sent, real pretty I think. I got a new pair of shoes oxfords, a week ago last Saturday: paid $5.50 for them. Mailed a letter to Bess yesterday also one to Jennie, Fred's sister Anna and to Tracy, also sent Tracy his razor.
July 17th
This is Friday morning at about 8:40 and I think will be another very hot day as the past several days have been. Ted + Leona are not up yet. Ted quit the Inglewood Cafe, Tuesday(14th). I'm expecting a letter from Bede and Tracy to day, I haven't heard for several days. I suppose they're at Walker's now. I miss . Cart left night before last Wednesday; she had been here since Saturday night. She left with Eva. Russell is out playing. I rather think the folks will be up tomorrow. Marie is living in L.A. now at the Lorette Apmts. Leona, Cart, Russell + I went to town last Monday; left Russell with Marie. My how Mary has grown. She weighs 125 I think now and is quite tall. Frank the man that is boarding here went to Fresno for about 10 days. He left a week a go tomorrow. A week ago to day those 3 young men were hung in San Quentin & Folsom. Poor boys! When they come forth in the millennium how glad they'll be, I pity their poor mothers.
Aug 4
This is Tuesday and a pretty day so far. Ted left day before yesterday and said he was going to San Diego with Edwards. I worked 2 days a little over a week ago (24th + 25th) in Wineman's Store (sale) made $7.50. Last week I worked Tuesday and Wednesday(4 hrs. each day) at the Hillcrest Hotel, for an awfully cranky unmemorable woman. She was hateful and inconsistent. She'll have to change greatly in the near future I'm thinking. Russell is out playing with Jean I guess. He's a great boy to play with machines and machinery. Marie has moved over on 30th St.
August 16
This is Sunday and a pretty day. It is now 11:15 and mother and I are going to the meeting after while. Russell has a sore heel and I can't take him. Fred has gone down near San Diego as he didn't work to day. Frank works to day. Ted and Lorin left last Wednesday going north. I received a card yesterday from him in Modesto. I miss him. Received a letter from Tracy a day or two ago. He + Hubert are well and working at Walker's. Rec'd a card from Bess she's starts for home the 12th of this month. I suppose she's on the ocean now. Fred, Russell and I went out to Charlie's place Thurs. eve: saw Bobbie who is batching there(?). Fred went over where Charlie is living Friday eve. I have the carpet I got from Ed down on the floor; it looks fine. I think Br. Mc/Phereson speaks to day.
August 26
This is Wed. night at about 8:50 o'clock. Mother is in bed and so is Russell. Fred is getting ready for bed. Leona is in her room writing in her diary. Yesterday Mother, Marie + I went out to Culver City to see cousin Mary. She and Ed were to start at 5:15 for Iowa. They had come over to see us just a week before. Ed looks bad, has had a nervous break down he is not mentally right. Mary is hoping he'll be better so she can bring him back. I made me a new blue dress last week. Chas, Irma, Leona, Earl, Bob and the 2 children came over Monday night. All looked well. We have a big cat; came to us about 2 weeks ago.
August 27
This is Thursday eve. Leona has gone to Lynwood: wore her new silk dress made out of mine: looks real good. Got a letter from Ted to day, he is in Rio Vista. Fred has just remarked that we've got to get out of here before winter. I sent a letter to Hubert + Tracy to day. We've had several chickens to eat.
Sept 1st
This is Tuesday has been a nice day. Fred is out of a job again. He quit the oil fields 2 weeks ago and went to work on a big building at 7th + Flower St. He worked a week and quit when he found out that they were paying him $4.00 a day instead of $5.25 as they had promised. Now he is out of a job and to night is quite discouraged and wants to on to a ranch. He talks of nothing else says he hates So. California and is counting on getting that place at Red Bluff, which of course he will not. He has a bad cold, is hoarse and nose stopped up. Little Mother is still with me. She has been fixing pillows over for me washing them, making them larger, making new sofa pillow tops etc. She and Russell play "Uncle Ned". Russell likes to have any one play with him about fire wagons, trucks etc. Joe's squirrel too! Yesterday I went into L.A. met Ed and Von: went all over looking for a dress for Von but found nothing to suit. She - V - lost her scarf. She hated that terribly of course. Cart is working in the 5 cent store has been for about a month or more I think.
Sept 3
This is a sunny day quite a breeze blowing. It is now about 2:50. I am going to town pretty soon to get something for dinner. We had chicken for dinner yesterday. Mother and I went to see "The Ten Commandments" yesterday. It was pretty good. Theo Roberts, Estelle Taylor, Rod La Rocque + Leatrice Joy all took important parts in it. Fred went to work this A.M. for the city of Inglewood: gets $4.50 a day. We've had about 6 chickens to eat and their feed so far has cost a good deal more than $25.00. Mother received a letter yesterday from Ted. I rec'd a letter from Mary K. yesterday. She said Ed was glad to be home. My new carpet that I got from Edna about 8 weeks ago looks nice. Leona is still over at Ed's (Edna) has been a week.
Sept 14
This is Monday; a pretty, warm day. Leona started to school this morning. She wore her dark blue middy and skirt. I cut her hair yesterday evening and she cried because she thot it too short. I think she looks fine tho. She and Edna took Russell into L.A. day before yesterday to Ringlings Circus. Russell didn't enjoy it much, he was afraid of the clowns and cried and wanted to come home. Edna said he would much preferred stopping at those 2 auto shops on Maine and loved looking at old broken down machines. He's crazy about autos and likes to watch when tires are changed or anything else is being done. We went up town a few days ago and a clerk in Blackstones said Leona had a pretty form and should go to Peggy Hamilton and get on as a model. Mother went back to Lynwood night before last after being with me since July 21st. I surely miss her. Franks says she's surely energetic for her age, and she is too. A doctor told Frank a few days ago that he must cut out smoking or he'll likely have tuberculosis. Friday Russell + I went out to Charlie's but found no one at home.
Sept. 18
This is a warm sunny morning. It was cloudy yesterday some of the day but didn't rain. We've had no rain so far this year. Leona likes her school fine. I rec'd a letter and a card from Ted yesterday he sent me $5.00. He was there at Rio Vista and had gotten a job in Sacramento or near there he said. I'd like to see him. Tracy + Hubert are about 75 miles from Fresno in a logging camp. I wish they were home and working. Russell is out playing some place: he was crying a while ago because I wouldn't let him get on top of Howard's garage with Nita, Marion + Howard. Well I guess I'll go and do my dishes, I have to finish washing some clothes to day. Tomorrow is Russell's 4th birth day and we want to take him to the park. Fred just hates his work, it's pretty hard. He gets Staurday afternoon off. I want to go to meeting Sun.
Sept 24
This is warm + bright. It is now 10 A.M. The clock says 10:26 but it is almost 30 minutes fast. I keep it fast purposely. I have the dishes washed and these rooms swept but not dusted. I have some washing to do to day. I kind of wanted to go to town to day (to L.A.) but don't think I'll get there in time, I guess maybe I'll go Saturday. Mother is talking of taking a trip to Iowa to visit her sister. I want her to go, how I wish I could help her! Leona has some stockings sh's selling; she gets 4 pr. for $1.00 by selling them these coupons to others, they're quite nice. Rec'd letter from Bede and Tracy a few days ago they're about 10 miles from Fresno working in the grapes. Evening before last Fred + Frank took 15 chickens in to the market here and got 30 cents per lb. for them. They brot ( ). We now have 32 left. We've killed 6 or 7 to eat; one of the little yellow pullets looks like she'd lay soon. Day before yesterday Russell ran a rusty wire a little ways in his foot. I went to meeting Sunday, Mother and Marie were there. Br. Mc/Phearson spoke to the public + Br. Sherman to the friends. Chet, Ed, Mother, + Grace were up 3 or 4 evenings ago. We went to the park on Russell's birth day then to museum etc. Marie's Raymond went with us.
Sept 30
This is Wednesday. Quite warm to day. I'm washing some to day. Some things for Leona + some towels. I went up town day before yesterday and got an overcoat for Russell; he's awfully proud of it, paid $5.95 for it. Frank is not working to day has a badly inflamed eye went to the Dr. last night. Mother + the girls were up night before last. Fred paid Chet $5.00 for the carpet. Mother has given up (temporarily any way) her trip to Iowa to see her sister. I wish she could go. Rec'd a letter from Tracy day before yesterday, quite humorous, he and Bede are in or near Sanger. I haven't seen Homer for ages: wish I could see him. I went to the meeting Sunday. Mother + Marie were not there. Russell hasn' seemed very well the past several days has an itching in the rectum and seems quite nervous jerks his shoulder and doesn't remain still any lengthof time.

He isn't entirely well yet. He has gone over to Lynwood to day. Monday I went into L.A. and bought me a dress, dark blue triimed in red, a pair of shoes and a hat. The dress was $9.95, the hat $1.98 and the shoes $2.85. Hubert is still working for the roofing company and Tracy is working at the Ford factory, started a week ago yesterday. We went Monday night to see Syd Chaplin in "The Man On The Box" it was good. Edna + Marie were over last Thursday and I trimmed Edna's hair. She looked awfully cute. She has a new coat, paid about $20 I think.
I didn't go to meeting last Sunday and as some friends of Fred's are coming this Sunday, I guess I won't get to go this Sunday either. I hate to miss. Charlie + Bobbie were over Sunday afternoon but Fred wasn't here. Jean and Russell are out playing in the yard. We're getting 4, sometimes 5 eggs a day now.
Nov 13
This is Friday and a fierce wind is blowing. Everything outside is covered with dust, it would be inside too only I have the house shut up tight. Tracy is working in a whole sale house, has been about a week; likes it fine, so far. Leona is at school, her school plays Santa Monica (foot ball) to day and if she can get anyway to ride out she'll go. She's very enthusiastic over foot ball. Their light weights beat S.M last night and she was elated. Hubert is out of a job, worked for a few days at a sheet metal place here in Inglewood but didn't like the work or the hours. He and Ted have gone to work out at some gym in L.A. that he joined to day. Ted went with him; he says he is Bede's manager. Ted got a new pair of shoes to day, tan, awfully pretty , on sale only $4.50. Fred is out of a job too now, didn't work yesterday. He and I went up town to an auction yesterday, took Russell. We went to the Broadway Department Store so Russell could see the toys and old Santa Claus. Frank is still with us, he thot that this might be his last week.
Nov 26
This is the evening of Thanksgiving Day. Fred is just now eatinghis Thanksgiving dinner. He worked all day to day digging cesspools and is pretty tired. He didn't work yesterday. Frank left to day for some camp about 7 or 8 miles from here where he starts to work tomorrow. He went to L.B. Monday morning or started there and some thing on his machine broke (cost him $17 to get it fixed) went later on and was laid off so got work at this camp. We had a fine dinner to day 2 chickens, potatoes, corn, celery, lettuce salad, peaches, dressing + gravy and mince + pumpkin pies. I had sent a letter yo Mary + Ed Klingaman day before yesterday inviting them over but they didn't come. Hubert was going to invite Gorden (his friend) but didn't get to see him. The boys were all home. Ted helped me get the dinner. His finger has been awfully sore (a boil I think) but is almost well now. Hubert is out of work. Tracy is working for a whole sale house.

Dec 19
This is Saturday about 1 o'clock and we're getting ready to move out on Redondo Blvd. Leona is terribly disgusted and says she about wishes she'd be in an auto accident as she wouldn't have to move there but mother and I were out looking at the place this morning and we think we can make a dandy place out of it. Fred says we'll have a sleeping porch a bath room, not the finest on earth but it'll do I guess. Mother and I went to put in flowers right away, any way we'll do the best we can and if at the end of the year we have nothing we have our selves to blame. We think that $25.00 per month and 1/4 of the crop is pretty high rent, but Fred thinks it will be all right. Hubert was called on his bus job and went this A.M. Tracy is to help us move when he gets home this after noon. We had a big rain yesterday. I went to L.A. yesterday to see about a stove and the streets were flooded for blocks some places. We're awfully hard up, as usual as Xmas approaches. Ted is thinking if he doesn't get to feeling better soon he'll go to the hospital for awhile. His wrist has hurt him so that he couldn't work yesterday or to day, he was helping on the cesspool, mindless work. Russell is out playing. Fred got 100 lbs. of walnuts a few days ago to sell.
Dec 31
This is the last day of the year and I'm going to bed pretty soon. Russell is asleep. Fred is sitting half asleep in a rocker and mother is in the kitchen. It is now about 9:35. Chet, Ed, Grace, Mary and Cartie were here and ate supper they left about a half hour ago. Leona went with them. Hubert hasn't come home yet. He has been learning the bus routes and is driving bus now. He has a new cap, shirts, puttees + shoes and watch. I think he gets his suit to day. Ted left this morning with Eddy Gerlac; said he was going to the hospital and as he hasn't come home yet I suppose he went. I do hope he gets all right. I feel a little worried over him. Tracy has gone up town. We are living out on Redono Blvd. now. I like the location fine. I don't care much for the house. Before we moved Fred said we'd have a sleeping porch, but I bet we won't very soon. We moved the 20th(Sunday). We had a nice Xmas, a nice tree. Fred bought a washing machine. Russell got 2 little books, a little tractor + trailer, a little machine, and several other little things.
